Static apnea measurements

Johan Andersson, PhD scientist in Sweden (Zoophysiology in Lund) wants to find out if hypoxemia (low oxygen in brain) is harmful to the body. Effects after hort periods of Hypoxemia has not been proven unhealthy yet. He is measuring the release of S100B proteins in the brain during max apnea. For this he is using freedivers. Below I have published some of the data measured during my test. For the final and exact results we will have to wait for Johan Anderssons full text. Below we can see a diagram of a 7.04 breathhold.

Comments
Worth noticing in this breathhold is the slow onset of both a drop in O2 and pulse (most freedivers get an earlier pulse drop). The rising of blood pressure is also relativly low.

Preparation breathholds;
2.08 FRC, 4.45, 4.53, 6.43 - 2 hours rest.

Second max stat (7.04) started with 1 min FRC breathhold and then 3.20 min breathhold and then 7.04 breathhold.
Usually 3 min rest inbeetwen breathholds.
8 min rest before both max stat and 12 packs (0.7 litre) packing on max stats.

On the 7.04 breathhold above the subject started with 2.9 CO2 and finished with 6.03 CO2.

Both breathholds were voluntarily stopped (and started ;-)
